Assistant/Associate Professor - Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences

The School of Health Sciences at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan invites qualified persons with a passion for Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences to apply for this full-time tenure track position with rank and salary commensurate with experience.
As a member of the department of Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences (CDS) the expectations of this position are to: provide disciplinary expertise and teaching in clinical microbiology; establish a line of peer-reviewed research and scholarship; advance clinical professional relationships with medical system partners for research, clinical, and teaching goals; and provide service to the school, university, and communities of practice including participation in student recruitment and retention, continuous academic program refinement, new program development including Master of Science degrees, and active involvement in professional organizations. Candidates with certification in
Medical Laboratory Science (ASCP) or Medical Technology (ASCP) are preferred, as are individuals with prior teaching experience in a Medical Laboratory Science program. Candidates must demonstrate experience with, and a commitment to, diversity and inclusion.

The School of Health Sciences serves over 2000 undergraduate, masters, doctoral, and post-professional students through a singular model of advancing community-engaged translational relationships, connecting theory to best practices in four thematic areas. Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences – programs include medical laboratory science, histotechnology, radiologic technology, nuclear medicine, pre-clinical professions, as well as master of science programs being developed in both physician assistant and CDS. Human Movement Science – the doctor of physical therapy, and the master of exercise science programs offer post-professional certificates and support undergraduate health sciences program concentrations. Public and Environmental Wellness – comprehensive programs consist of undergraduate wellness and health promotion, undergraduate and graduate environmental health and safety, and the master of public health. Interdisciplinary Health Sciences – the undergraduate health sciences degree program offers concentrations in nutrition, holistic health, and interdisciplinary pre-health professions, while the applied health sciences program offers degree completion opportunities for health specialized associate degree holders. Requirements
Minimum requirements are PhD and certification in Medical Laboratory Science (ASCP) or Medical Technology (ASCP) and 2 years of relevant clinical experience in a clinical diagnostic microbiology laboratory. Candidates who are ABD and nearing completion will be considered if they can demonstrate evidence of completing degree requirements by December 2020.
