This program gives partial support to Mathematical Science based conferences organized in developing or economically disadvantaged countries (CDC Definition).
In a few cases the program also supports a few international conferences in developed countries in order to invite mathematicians from developing countries.
In both cases the CDC Conference Grant can only be used to cover travel and accommodation cost for invited speakers and participants from developing countries.
The Grant Selection Committee (GSC) consists of the CDC Secretary for Grants Selection as Chair and has seven other members.

For all applicants applying for CDC funding for activities scheduled between June 1, 2020 and March 30, 2021:
Please note that we will request a confirmation letter from the head of department (where the activity is supposed to be held) confirming the dates of the planned activity.
Please also check if there are any travel warnings for specific countries before you apply for CDC funding.
- January 15th, 2020 for conferences starting after May 15th, 2020 (Decisions will be made by March 15th, 2020)
- April 15th, 2020 for conferences starting after August 15th, 2020 (Decisions will be made by June 15th, 2020)
- July 15th, 2020 for conferences starting after November 15th, 2020 (Decisions will be made by September 15th, 2020)
- October 1st, 2020 for conferences starting after February 1st, 2021 (Decisions will be made by November 15th, 2020)

2. The conference must address either a Regional or an International audience. They should benefit mathematicians from neighboring countries as well.
3. The selection committee specifically considers only those conferences at a Research level and CANNOT support schools or activities which involve professional training.
4. The conference must be based (place of work) in a developing country.

Category A- Conference Support in Developing Countries
The list of Developing
Countries includes all the countries classified by the World Bank in the
categories: Low income, Lower middle income, and Upper middle income in
accordance with the World Bank Database updates of July 2019. It
includes all countries with Gross National Income (GNI) per capita in
USD, not exceeding USD 12,375, with the World Bank data of 2018. https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/NY.GNP.PCAP.CD

Category B- Conference Support in Developed Countries
The CDC also supports annually a few major international conferences occurring in developed countries (countries with a Gross National Income per capita (GNI) greater than 12,375 USD).
This is possible only when the international conferences invite mathematicians from developing and economically disadvantaged countries and if the money granted by CDC is specifically used for supporting them.
Organizers of category B conferences are additionally required to prove that they will match the funds requested from CDC with an equal amount from other sources which must also be dedicated to supporting conference participation by mathematicians from developing countries.
This is possible only when the international conferences invite mathematicians from developing and economically disadvantaged countries and if the money granted by CDC is specifically used for supporting them.
Organizers of category B conferences are additionally required to prove that they will match the funds requested from CDC with an equal amount from other sources which must also be dedicated to supporting conference participation by mathematicians from developing countries.
Application Procedure (These are common for applicants from both categories)

2. Curriculum Vitae (CV) of BOTH conference organizers must be submitted. It must include a selected list of publications. (Max. 3 pages)
3. Budget details must be included. It should be a detailed draft of the approximate spending (see 'Grant details' below for an overview of what is covered). The applicant CANNOT apply for more than 4,000 EUR.
4. The application form must include a list of invited speakers (Name-University-Country). Please specify those who have accepted the invite.
5. The application form must also include a detailed scientific program (which includes details of how the conference will be organized: plenary lectures, parallel sessions, etc).

Grant details
- The maximum amount that is awarded is 4,000 EUR. In case the funds are granted they are usually in the range of 1,000 EUR - 3,500 EUR.
- The funds must be used for travel and accommodation costs only. (For invited speakers or participants coming from developing countries).
- The cost of speakers coming from developed countries cannot be covered using the grant.
- The CDC cannot be expected to provide the main share of financial support; an overall conference budget has to be included with the application.
- This grant CANNOT support travel costs to attend workshops or conferences.
